My Berries founder and MD, Stuart McGruddy, has won the 2020 Hort Innovation Churchill Fellowship.
The award is to recognise individual Australians who commit to create positive change for the community.
As one of the only 16 Queensland recipients of the award, McGruddy says he is committed to expand and share his knowledge of the freezing and processing of berries with growers and manufacturers. He plans to travel to other regions, including the US and France, to research technologies used.
“I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to speak with growers and manufacturers overseas – to better understand business relationships, logistics and the equipment used to acquire and process quality frozen fruit,” said McGruddy. “In turn I aim to improve, educate, and help to create a much more efficient manufacturing process.”
However, given international travel is almost impossible right now due to the on-going pandemic, the Churchill Trust is prepared to allow the research to be delayed.
